The pride of every town is their municipal and financial facilities at their center.  In the 1920s, the Bremen State Bank build a magnificent new facility in the heart of their hometown.  The new building had large palladium windows, large leaded glass windows, a brick exterior adorn with large terra cotta bands, trims, and details, and two large limestone columns framing the recessed oak entry doors and transom window.

But there came a time when we felt it necessary to cover up our past and and offer a new, more modern face.  In 1967, the windows were covered and the terra cotta and limestone removed to make way for a new concrete and metal panel cladding.

The new facade provided the bank with a modern look until the panel began the rust and pull away from the building.  By this time, the bank had merged and relocated to the edge of town.  The Town of Bremen had purchased the building to provide space for many of the town's departments and now need to deal with the deteriorating exterior.  The town also saw the opportunity to set a standard, a very high standard for any further redevelopment of downtown Bremen.

After over two years of study and nearly a year of construction, the Bremen Town Hall now stands with her exterior restored.  New terra cotta molds were patterned after the outlines of pieces that had been removed, drawings of some replacement piece that had been found, and the few remaining pieces of terra cotta.  The terra cotta again compliments the brick to provide a warm golden glow of the once stately building.  The new limestone columns add to the character and charm of the building's main entrance.  Inside the new palladium windows again provide sunlight to grand interior lobby.

With the success of the exterior restoration, the Bremen Town Council began considering restoring the interior by removing the false ceiling to expose an unused second floor balcony and barrel-vaulted ceiling.
